The article explores the parallels between the teachings of Theodore of Mopsuestia and St. Isaac the Syrian in the context of the First Collection. Through comparative analysis, it was possible to identify a strong discrepancy in theological themes of these two authors. The insufficiently studied context of the teachings of St. Isaac the Syrian, upon closer examination, reveals a hidden layer of unexpected factual material, which requires further understanding and raises many open questions. In this article, an attempt is made with the help of patristic Orthodox methodology to study the corpus of writings attributed to St. Isaac the Syrian, and answer a number of a priori questions related to this issue.
