The reasons for the breakdown of family ties between senior citizens and their children (the example of the Social Service Center of the Sholokhovsky district of the Rostov region)

At the moment, the Russian Federation, as well as many other countries in the world, is characterized by an aging population trend. With the improvement of the healthcare system, individuals get the opportunity to live longer than their ancestors. Therefore, every year there is an increase in the proportion of the population that consists of pensioners and the elderly. This process contributes not only to increasing their needs but also to the difficulties they face. One of the urgent problems currently existing is conflict in multigenerational families. The causes of this phenomenon are of a different nature. To identify them, the authors conducted their own research on the basis of the Social Service Center of the Sholokhovsky district of the Rostov region. The questionnaire method revealed the specifics of the relationship between senior citizens and their children. Based on the results of the work carried out, it can be concluded that there are a large number of contradictions between close people and the need to introduce new technologies in working with these families aimed at strengthening family ties.
