Reception of compatriots from abroad as a means of rehabilitation of demographic situation and improving the quality of workforce in the region

In the article the demographic changes in the Smolensk region in the first decade of the century are pointed out. There is a trend of depopulation and decline in the labour force, which is forecast to continue into the future. As an instrument of control of population dynamics indicate the participation of the region in the state program to assist the resettlement to the Russian Federation of compatriots living abroad.
