Problems for high quality hybrid sunflower seeds production in the Western Siberia

Increasing of hybrid sunflower acreage in the Western Siberia requires both to develop complete breeding program and to form the entire system of hybrid seed production also. The main aim of our work was to develop the most effective procedures for hybrid seed production in local conditions, ensuring high yield and quality of seeds. It is shown, that the optimal plant population for parental forms of sunflower hybrids Avanguard and Aurora is 80 000 plants per ha, with the correlation 2 rows of paternal line to 14 rows of maternal form. The best planting date was May 20th for parental forms of Avanguard and May 30th for Aurora. Desiccation by Reglon-super is recommended in the dose of 3 l ha1.
