The article is devoted to the problems of teaching Russian phonetics to Chinese students. The relevance of this study is due to the need for developing effective methods to overcome a negative impact of linguistic interference. As a result of a comparative analysis of the phonetics and articulation bases of the Russian and Chinese languages, a system of special exercises has been developed that consistently forms the pronunciation skills of foreign students. A methodical model for teaching the distinction between consonant sounds [š':] and [š], [s'] and [č'] is described. The importance of articulation gymnastics in mastering the Russian phonetic system is substantiated; types of articulation exercises that ensure setting the articulation basis of the Russian language among Chinese speakers are shown. The results obtained can be used in practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
