The childhood years of the Russian scientist Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev were spent in the village of Aremzyansky, Tobolsk province. It is known that the manager of the Mendeleev glass factory in the village built Church of the Resurrection of the Lord (1844) and opened a school for factory children. The documents of the Russian State Historical Archive and the State Archive in Tobolsk, stored in the funds of St. Nicholas, have been identified and put into scientific circulation. The Synod, the Tobolsk Ecclesiastical Consistory, the diocesan College Council, the Tobolsk Provincial Statistical Committee, which made it possible to establish the opening of the school in the first half of the 19th century, as well as the school of letters (1885–1919). They are of scientific and practical interest in terms of studying the “places of memory” associated with the Tobolsk period of the scientist D. I. Mendeleev’s life.
