Use of biological and mechanical barriers to decrease in noise influence on objects of the railway transportation

The author of the article conducts researches of protective forest planting along the Privolzhsky railways; he also determines the efficiency of decrease in acoustic discomfort. The comparative analysis of the degree of effectiveness in decreasing of acoustic discomfort by means of biological (tree-belt areas) and mechanical (noise-protective screens) barriers is given as well as their advantages and disadvantages are revealed.
