We studied the efficiency of botulinum toxin therapy for nonspecific chronic lower-back and sciatica pain. The study included 52 patients with lumbar spine dorsopathy. The Oswestry Disability Index was used for pain syndrome evaluation as well as functional disorders related to it. Structural changes in the spine were examined using MRI scanning. The control group (25 patients) was treated with conventional medicines, physiotherapy, and interventional procedures. 27 patients of the main group received both the conventional management and botulinum toxin therapy aimed at releasing their myotonic syndrome. The Oswestry Disability Index scores varied significantly as well as the duration of recrudescence and remissions, specifics of myotonic pattern suggesting the efficiency of botulinum toxin therapy as a part of the combined therapy for patients with chronic lower back pain.
