Application of computer simulation to determine the influence of quenching parameters on the geometry of parts from AK6 aluminium alloy

The article presents the results of a study, the purpose of which is to optimize the technology of manufacturing large-sized forgings with high and thin longitudinal and transverse ribs from the AK6 aluminum alloy. Simulation of the process of quenching of these stampings was carried out in the QForm VX software package. The influence of the hardening parameters (the method of placing the stampings on quenching, the absence / presence of false ribs, the water temperature during quenching) on the final geometry of the stampings has been established. Recommendations are formulated for optimizing the manufacturing technology of this type of stampings and useful information is obtained for further experimental research.
