Non-profit organizations of a socially oriented nature are actively developing forms of the modern tertiary sector of the Russian economy. They act as a link between the population, business, and government in the common cause of solving pressing social problems. With a relatively deep degree of study of the functioning of non-profit organizations in the scientific discourse, the aspect of the competitiveness of these forms in the non-profit sector remains insufficiently disclosed. The authors of the paper attempt to statistically assess the parameters of the “survivability” of Russian socially oriented non-profit organizations, as well as to identify key strategies for achieving a competitive advantage in this market. Five tools of strategic analysis are presented, which allow characterizing a set of factors that determine the material and financial stability of non-profit organizations. According to the authors, a qualitative increase in the financial and, accordingly, operational success of non-profit organizations requires them to systematically diversify their income generation strategies and combine best practices to achieve optimal results, considering their human and technical capabilities.
