The article proposes creative tasks in literary reading lessons due to the fact that there is a need to form the cognitive interest of students in literary reading lessons using creative tasks in working with text. A diagnosis was carried out to identify the level of formation of cognitive interest (according to the O.B. Ostrovsky method), which showed that among the 1st grade students 36% have a low level of cognitive interest, 40% have an average level, only 24% showed a high level of cognitive interest. Thus, it became necessary to form the cognitive interest of students in reading and the use of creative tasks in educational activities.
