At present, along with traditional microbiological and immunological methods of laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases, use is made of methods based on molecular biological technologies. PCR methods allow studying etiology and antibiotic resistance without pre-culturing the pathogen. This study focuses on comparative data obtained during the PCR and bacteriological tests of surgical site infections (SSI) by Staphylococcal etiology. The aim of the research was to determine the possibility of using PCR for direct diagnosis of SSI Staphylococcal etiology. PCR analysis is much faster to obtain results as compared to traditional microbiological investigation in the case of SSI caused by MR Staphylococcus spp. During the progress of this work high sensitivity (98.6%) and specificity (95.8%) of PCR were obtained.
