The use of powdered fragments of asbestos-cement products as a modifier and a mineral powder for asphalt concrete

The article presents the research results on the use of asbestos-cement waste products from the roofs of buildings in asphalt-cement mixes for the road construction. The possibility of using powdered fragments of asbestos-cement products as a modifier and a mineral powder is shown. The main parameters characterizing the properties of organic binder and asphalt-cement mixtures after the introduction of additives, as well as physico-mechanical characteristics of mineral powder obtained from asbestos-cement fragments are given. As a result of laboratory tests it was determined that the asbestos cement waste products not only improves the properties of bitumen and asphalt-concrete, but also increases its strength characteristics.
