Use of the drug GS-441524 (manufactured in China) in the treatment of infectious peritonitis in cats

Caused by coronavirus, feline infectious peritonitis is recorded in many countries around the world, including Russia. This is a relatively new disease for our country, which appeared at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries, it has a mortality rate close to 100% and belongs to the “slow” category. Currently, an integrated approach based on modern diagnostic methods, including laboratory ones, is used to diagnose feline infectious peritonitis. To this day, there are no effective treatment regimens for cats diagnosed with IPC, since no specific treatment has been developed, and symptomatic treatment is supportive in nature and the outcome of the disease is fatal in all cases. The research was conducted at a veterinary clinic located in the Central Administrative District of Omsk, where out of 3.316 cats admitted, 11.9% of the animals were diagnosed with infectious diseases, including 9.3% with infectious peritonitis. The article discusses diagnostic methods and treatment regimens for cats with IPC. In one of the proposed schemes, the drug GS-441524, produced in China, acted as an antiviral agent. Moreover, in 50% of cases of its use, it was possible to achieve a therapeutic effect (recovery of the animal).
