The role of ultrasound examination for differential diagnosis of adenomas the thyroid and parathyroid glands

We analyzed the data of preoperative US exams of 48 patients with parathyroid adenoma and 138 patients with thyroid adenoma to figure out the features for differential diagnosis. The location within the neck, the shape, and vascular pattern appeared to be the most significant criteria. No specific US signs of thyroid and parathyroid adenomas were determined.
