The people's right to self-determination is now one of the fundamental principles of modern international law agreed upon by the international community at the time of the emergence of liberation movements and revolutions calling for independence. This right in the beginning was closely connected with the right of peoples to their independence. However, the events that took place in the world due to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union and the results connected with it led to the emergence of independent states on the basis of sectarian or ethnic in the world. All this led to a change in the concept and content of the right to self-determination, and also led to the emergence of many debatable issues, such as the people's right to secession, the essence of the correlation of the principle of the people to self-determination and the territorial integrity of states and the concept of the people (nation) in international law.
