The author substantiates the essential importance of justice in understanding the law and its implementation. On the example of a judicial act, the system-forming value of the category "justice" is demonstrated. It is noted that despite the frequent mention of this category in normative legal acts, the practical application of the provisions of justice is reduced to the recognition of this concept as evaluative. According to the author, the modern understanding of justice follows from the need to ensure human rights and freedoms and is associated with the categories of "efficiency" and "proportionality".
