Principles of the Russian advocacy

The article reviews the principles which the human rights practices are based upon such as legality, independence, self-regulation, corporativity, legal equality. At the same time the definitive principle of human rights practices of advocacy in whole and advocate in particular is the principle of legality. Meanwhile the abovementioned list of principles is not exhaustive. The authors single out such principles characteristic to the advocacy as permission for advocate’s profession and activities, confidentiality, limitations on combining the advocate’s profession with other activities, disciplinary responsibility and availability of legal assistance.
