Economic transformations characteristic of almost all countries have determined the speed and content of transformation of environmental management processes. Their unevenness and heterogeneity was due to the national characteristics of each country, the country's specialization in the world market. Naturally, in accordance with social transformations in society, environmental management based on specific principles should also be improved. The article provides an overview of the main principles of management of state bodies operating in the natural resource sectors of Russia. As the main principles of nature management, the following principles are proposed: the principle of the importance of natural objects as the basis of people's life, the principle of paid nature use, the principle of differentiation of natural objects according to their intended purpose, and the principle of economic stimulation of rational nature use.
