Principles of selection and adaptation of texts by specialty

The question of the competence of a modern specialist is raised, implying his ability to obtain professionally significant information from texts written in Russian. Therefore, one of the tasks of teaching the Russian language at a non-linguistic university is to develop in students the ability to work with original Russian-language literature in their specialty. The problems of adaptation of texts in the specialty, the role of reading in the system of professionally oriented foreign language teaching and the criteria for selecting texts when teaching students of non-linguistic faculties of universities are also touched upon.
