Design principles of innovative engineering education

Based on the analysis of the key problems of modernization of educational structures in engineering education, an attempt is made to substantiate the principles of designing innovative engineering education. To achieve this goal, methods of expert assessment and systematic structural and logical analysis are used. It is shown that the disadvantage of the current system of higher education is not the lack of professional competencies in the content of education, but the lack of innovative competencies of graduates. The fundamental position on the primacy of academic university education over applied education is approved. The article substantiates the position that in modern conditions vocational education should become a continuous process in which a variety of training programs throughout life is a tool for solving short-term tasks in the workplace and a means of ensuring operational professional development. The basic principles of engineering education design are defined.
