Priorities of modern regional cultural policy in the Republic of Dagestan

The regional cultural policy represents a set of ideological and empirical provisions which need to be carried out through education, enlightenment by involving scientific, social and organizational, state and public institutions for in-depth enculturation of the population. The author notes the complex social and cultural environment of the Republic of Dagestan characterized by the simultaneous multidirectional processes: globalization, conservative traditionalist, radical religious ones. The mosaic social and cultural pattern reflects the different configuration of the multilevel identity of the modern Dagestanis. To define vectors of regional cultural policy, it is important to take into account the historical and cultural peculiarities as well as a system of value priorities in which global trends and local features are seamlessly integrated. In the author’s opinion, the key tasks of regional cultural policy in the Republic of Dagestan are to increase the level of aesthetic and cultural education of the Dagestan population, preserve traditional culture, and cooperate with other Russian regions to provide cultural exchange and dialogue of cultures.
