Problems of motor transport supply f logging industry in the Middle Volga region during first five-year plans

Thousands of persons were involved in logging industry in the Middle Volga region during first five-year plans. Cars and tractors became new means of transporting timber, their number reached several hundred vehicles by the end of the period. The share of mechanized logs removal in different logging camps varied from 15 up to 50 percent. Unfortunately, the process of introduction of new technical equipment was not accompanied by simultaneous construction of surfaced roads, garages and repair shops. Consequently, considerable number of cars were constantly in out-of-service condition.
