Poverty as a barrier on the way to sustainable development

One of the most pressing issues, which is considered in economic theory and practice, is the problem of poverty, which affects today, and has always affected, a significant number of the population in various countries of the world. The problem of poverty appears as the most serious obstacle, the main barrier to the sustainable development of modern society and economy. That is why today the question on the UN agenda is whether it is possible to eradicate poverty according to the strategic Goal No. 1 in the field of global sustainable development. In the article, the author systematizes possible strategies for fighting poverty, which are used in modern economic practice. In addition, the author concludes that it is advisable to change the political framework conditions of existence in some countries of the world in order to achieve such a goal as the elimination of poverty and misery, the needs of large masses of the population.
