The problem of fictitious entities in Jeremy Bentham's legislation

It is shown that Bentham's understanding of the nature of things has much in common with the ideas of Aristotle. Particular attention is paid to the so-called spiritual entities, which, according to Bentham, are real and immaterial. Realizing Bentham's paramount interest in jurisprudence we explained his aspirations to replace fictions that have a questionable relation to the substances with the names of real things.
