The problem of historical types in "Methodology of history" by A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky

The article is an attempt to clarify the methodological views of Alexander S. Lappo-Danilevsky on historical typology as a special way to construct historical explanation and systematics. The author analyses why A. Lappo-Danilevsky destructively criticized N. Danilevsky's theory of cultural-historical types. The author concludes on preliminary, inconclusive nature of the understanding of the historical type and typology as a method in the «Methodology of history» by A.S. Lappo-Danilevsky.
