The preventive act involves action in anticipation of the problem. The question of the extent of the potential impact of preventive measures on the life of stakeholders is remained discussional. The article analyzes the features of preventive programs implemented in professional educational in-stitutions. It justies the idea that many programs do not take into account the actual needs of young peo-ple (including biological ones) and do not correspond to the tasks of growing up. In particular, it is noted that the principle of developing healthy lifestyle habits among adolescents and young people, which is the basis of most prevention programs, does not correspond to the values of adolescence. In conclusion, some generalized facts are proposed, the inclusion of which may have an impact on increasing the potential effect of the implementation of preventive programs
