Problems of integrated use of Timan bauxites

Бесплатный доступ

At the present stage of economic development of the Komi Republic a considerable interest is drawn to the problem of development of high-quality Middle Timan bauxites. The Komi Republic holds about 30 % of proven reserves of bauxites of Russia. On this basis it is possible to create a powerful modern production, providing deep processing of mineral raw. The rocks allow producing rough ceramics, mineral wool, tiles, gravel and cement. Based on the bauxiterelated kaolinite clays it is possible to organize the production of porcelain, earthenware and ceramics. The phosphorous bauxites recycling results in the production of potassium and phosphate fertilizers. The electrical fusion of highferrous bauxites allows producing high-grade cast iron alongside with alumina. The elements of bauxites can be used for recovery of industry concentrations of rare metals (gallium, vanadium, niobium, scandium, rare earth metals). The most promising production is the production of refractories, portland cement, coagulants, ceramics and certainly alumina for metal aluminum. In general all the necessary conditions were prepared to develop mineral resource base of the region and to create a diversified mining and processing industries.
