Problem of modernization of Russia in the context of civilizational and geopolitical selection

The article examines the phenomenon of the Russian modernization, its main stages, and distinctive features. It is noted that the central problem of the Russian modernization in the beginning of the 21st century is its civilization and geopolitical choice - the combination of the European choice in transformation of political and economic institutions, and the Eurasian choice in geopolitics and originality in culture. The conclusion that the contemporary Russian modernization is that of the non-classic type - a unique historical phenomenon - is grounded.
