The problem of scientific understanding of sport as a socio-cultural phenomenon

The article presents the results of the analysis and generalization of Russian and foreign scientists’ theoretical and methodological positions on the problem of scientific understanding of sport as a social and cultural phenomenon. The authors attempt to formulate a generalized scientific definition of sport as a socio-cultural phenomenon.
