Problem of Russian nationwide and regional identity on the modern stage

The article is concerned with an identity concept as a sociocultural process of self-discovery. Analyzing the issue the author concludes that along with knowing oneself as an individual, a person knows oneself as a representative of the particular nation, gets features of the national character, and here the regional identity also takes place as a part of the Russian society, culture, which imposes the Russian identity to become attractive for other people of Russia.
