The problem of ornamental style in Old Russian literature

The author of the article dwells upon the difference in concepts «ornamentalizm», «the weaving of words», «rhetorical style». Ornamental style reflects the consciousness of Old Russian person, in which the strengthening of expressivity is accompanied by the aspiration for abstracting one’s emotional experience. It ritualizes the sense of the statement, and personal experience confirms itself with the help of constant language formulations that form the new system of signs in the text.
