The survey aims to examine the main trends and practices in the study of intergenerational spiritual continuity in the context of foreign historiography. Particular attention is drawn to the research thinking models of the XIXth - early XXIst centuries. Characteristic complexes of cognitive principles are shown, which were formed within the framework of national scientific schools and directions for studying the problem of intergenerational continuity of spiritual experience in foreign historiography. The socio-cultural and epistemological contexts have determined the genesis and evolution of historiographical trends in this field. The specificity of the methodological situation in foreign historiography, represented by pluralism of research practices in relation to the problem of intergenerational continuity of spiritual experience, has been disclosed. A comparative analysis of foreign scholars' writings helped to form a comprehensive view of the issue under study. Conclusion is drawn that the intergenerational continuity of spiritual experience in foreign historiography is a triune process of knowledge accumulation and reconstruction, updating paradigms, formation of new models of historiographical research, determined by previous experience.
