The article deals with the main problems of regulation by legislation of the process of making changes to the project documentation. Cases of negative impact of the changes made to the project on the object as a whole have been noted. The most typical problems that arise when replacing project equipment are investigated. The causes of such problems have been identified. The imperfection of the mechanism for making changes to the project documentation is noted. Proposals have been put forward to amend the relevant legal norms.
