The article discusses the phenomenon of loneliness in South Korea. The situation of loneliness found its reflection in the appearance of such kind of family as one- member family (il-in kagu). It is noted that over the years the number of such families is increasing due to economic and social reasons. Based on the works of Korean authors, we consider the phenomenon of loneliness in Korea in terms of various indicators, such as age, marital status, place of residence, etc. We have concluded that the tendency of seclusiveness is manifested in different social groups, both among the younger generation and among the elderly. The problem of lonely people is becoming more and more urgent for society and the state as a whole.
