The problem of correlation between formal and informal norms in institutionalism and the bicharacteristic approach to the typology of institutions

The paper presents a critical analysis of correlation between formal and informal norms in institutionalism, demonstrates the lack of the traditional dichotomy of formal / informal institutions. The paper presents a new approach to the typology of institutions describing them not only by form, but also by the content, which reveals an extended family of institutional types and more complex nature of their interaction.
