The article investigates the relationship of words and opinions to deeds and actions in the general concept of human nature. The writer has developed its own identity and the correspondence theory of human behavior, which is compared with the doctrine of free will. The contradictions between the character's intentions and the final choice of the author seen in the images of Anna P. Stoleshnikova and Maria A. Rozalskaya. The article emphasized the role of the material factor as the motive of human behavior. The author has found a universal property of the Chernyshevsky’s novel - increased attention to the material side of life. In the opinion of the writer, bullying this side there is a line of romantic detachment from life. The article outlined the difference between the "predation" Marya A. and "predation" Anna P. The paper gives a detailed analysis of the motives and actions of Maria A. mapped with the motives and actions of Anna P. The author concludes that in the novel by Russian writer is a transition from the humanistic concept of human-to-new, original and to the point, and to develop. The paper traced the variation in the theory and practice of the concept of human nature.
