Problemic issues of planning the development of the weapons system

In recent years, Russia has undertaken large-scale military modernization, which has led to an increase in government spending intended to maintain and renew its armed forces. Currently, research into the weapon system is mainly carried out in three directions: analysis of requirements for weapons models, assessment of their combat effectiveness and optimization of the future appearance of the weapon system. The decision on the strategy for the development of weapons and military equipment should be made taking into account the uncertainty in assessing the enemy's combat strategies in the future and the limited budget for modernizing the armed forces. An analysis of the existing scientific and methodological support for the planning of the development of the weapons system showed that, in general, it corresponds to the provisions of the theory of weapons, however, a preliminary analysis of a number of works made it possible to identify a number of shortcomings that significantly limit the possibilities of use in modern conditions. The article discusses some of the problems of planning the development of the weapons system in the long term.
