The zone of the Arctic coast of the Russian Federation has a unique resource potential, and also has a geopolitical function for the purpose of ensuring national security. This requires production of special approach to the management of the socio-economic development of the Arctic coastal territories, which must have the necessary level of development and population to perform economic and defense functions. In this regard, the coastal territories of the Russian Arctic can be considered as an object of management at the national, regional and local levels. This necessitates the development of criteria for delimitation of this zone and the determination of its boundaries on land and at sea. The Arctic coasts of Russia are characterized by economic-geographical and socio-economic features. Therefore, the development of adequate management principles that take into account these features is necessary. The author’s approach to determining the signs of the Russian Arctic coastal zone delimitation is proposed in the article. A system of management principles of the socio-economic development of these territories, taking into account their characteristics, has been developed. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the possibility of their application in modern management practice by the development of the territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
