In the article the authors are formulated a point of view which is based on the conviction that formation of techniques of academic work must be constantly developed at all stages of training at a higher education institution. Particular attention is paid to organization of psychological safety of students. Psychological-pedagogical approach is considered in developing training of specialists; major emphasis is on self-education as one of indicators of the level of professional culture and competence. The article reveals the channels, facilities, sources of information acquisition, the interaction between the level of self-education and professionalism. Pay closer attention to formative competencies which are required for the emergence of a competitive specialist-educator.
