Problems and directions of historical research into physical culture and sport in the Kemerovo region

The aim of research is to analyze the experience of historiographic research on the development of physical culture and sports in the Kemerovo Region. Research objectives are search and analysis of the problems of studying this issue in the Soviet and post-Soviet period. The object of the study is research on the history of physical culture and sports in the Kemerovo Region. The main method used in the research is problem-chronological. Three levels of research were identified: all-Union / All-Russian research (on this topic at this time), the Siberian level (processes, primarily in Western Siberia) and the regional (local) level (which happened in the Kemerovo Region). Previously, the topic of the history of sports was the scientific area of teachers; in the last decade, the historical community got interested in the history of sports. Therefore, the number of monographs, dissertations, including doctoral dissertations, has significantly increased. Recently, the number of regional studies has also risen. The work of trade unions, physical culture teams, attempts to generalize the history of Soviet sports, GTO, industrial gymnastics - these issues were relevant for study in the Soviet period. These problems were not so much of research interest as of applied interest. In the modern period, it has become possible for research on physical education and sports, free from ideological pressure to occur. The number of regional studies increased significantly. The use of new research methods made it possible to set more daring research tasks using an interdisciplinary approach. Based on the results of the study, the authors came to the conclusion that, despite the abundance of literature, a comprehensive study on the history of physical culture and sports in the Kemerovo Region has not yet been created, and the first period (the formation and establishment of physical culture and sports) - 1943 - mid 1960s remains completely unexplored.
