The article reveals the problems connected with the mastering of innovations in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Daghestan. Major deficiencies of the agrarian science under modern conditions are identified. The article emphasizes the role of the state in the management of innovation processes in the agro-industrial complex. Measures required for the creation of a competitive sector of research and development in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Daghestan are suggested.
