Challenges and opportunities for the use of modern forensic equipment in criminal proceedings (case study of the videoconferencing introduction in penal trials)

The article focuses on various aspects of the use of the latest forensic equipment in the activities of investigative bodies and the court. The opportunities for the use of digital technology in criminal proceedings are analyzed. A detailed algorithm of digital technology application for fixing traces of crimes and their use in the procuring evidence in criminal investigations, as well as in criminal proceedings in courts. The main emphasis is placed on the problematic issues in the use of videoconferencing in criminal proceedings against the backdrop of legislation amendments. In addition, a detailed analysis of the current foreign legislation governing the use of videoconferencing in criminal proceedings in individual states was conducted. As a result, the publication contains conclusions and proposals for improving the legal mechanisms for the use of modern forensic equipment in criminal proceedings.
