The article discusses the controversial issues of the implementation in the Russian legal system of the recommendations of Article 20 of the UN Convention on the Criminalization of Public Officials for Illegal Enrichment. The author analyzes the arguments «for» and «against», justifies the need for criminalization of this phenomenon and proposes a draft revision of article 2891 «Illegal enrichment» of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
