Problems and perspectives of winter rapeseed cultivation at the Kuban region

The basic problem of winter rapeseed cultivation at the Kuban region consists in the fact that the state of most winter crop sowings before the winter is distant from the optimum conditions of the plant development, it is caused both the subjective factor - the non-usage of technological and production discipline, and objective - impossibility to obtain the guaranteed seedlings within the optimum periods because of the sharp scarcity of moisture in the period of the soil and sowing preparation. For these reasons cold- and winter resistance and, most importantly, potential productivity of rapeseed varieties and hybrids are not realized. The field trials of the winter rapeseed varieties of VNIIMK breeding, conducted in different agriculturally-climatic zones of Krasnodar region in 2004-2006, confirmed that the reason of harvest shortage, in average 40-45 %, is the non-usage of elementary requirements for the rapeseed cultivation.
