Problems and prospects for the development of small and medium enterprises in Krasnodar krai

The article analyzes the development of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship in Russia in general and in Krasnodar Krai in particular. We have identified its strengths and weaknesses that hinder further development. A study of the activities of small and mediumsized enterprises has shown an increasing negative trend that began in 2020. The social structure of both the region and the country is characterized by a number of unresolved problems. These problems are inextricably linked with high unemployment, a decrease in financial capacity of local residents, and an outflow of the population to large cities. Small and medium-sized enterprises create new jobs in contrast to corporations and large businesses. The growth in the number of small and medium-sized enterprises facilitates the economic activity of the population, both in the region and nationwide, which has a beneficial effect on the overall economic development of Russia.
