Problems and prospects for the development of the method of forensic profiling in the investigation of crimes of a non-obvious nature

The article is devoted to the analysis of scientific and practical problems of introducing profiling into the forensic arsenal to establish meaningful information about the criminal. Analyzing the concepts of "profile", "profiling", "criminal profiling", "psychological portrait", the author proposes to use the term "forensic profiling" in the context of investigating crimes of a non-obvious nature. The conceptual approaches and modern trends in the application of forensic profiling are considered. The issues of the low efficiency of the use of profiling in practice in the investigation of crimes, as well as the issue of information software for the statistical analysis of crimes of a non-obvious nature are raised. An attempt was made to analyze the legal nature and procedural regulation of the work of a profiling specialist in Russia and neighboring countries.
