Problems and prospects of tourism infrastructure development in Russia

The article examines the current state and future of the tourism industry in the context of geopolitical changes and domestic initiatives. Despite sanctions pressure and socio-political isolation, domestic tourism in Russia continues to develop due to government support and the industry’s adaptation to new realities. The author of the article examines the main problems constraining the growth of the industry, among which are lack of funding, underdeveloped infrastructure and high tax burden. It also describes government measures aimed at stimulating tourism activity, including the abolition of VAT for hotel accommodation facilities, the launch of national projects and support programs, and the introduction of initiatives to improve tourism and transport infrastructure. The expediency of the developed strategic plan for tourism development until 2035 is emphasized, the aim of which is to create a competitive tourist product and improve the quality of service in the industry. In parallel, state support measures aimed at stimulating the development of domestic and inbound tourism, such as «Tourism Development» and «Tourism and Hospitality Industry» are discussed. The article pays special attention to small businesses in the tourism industry, which face a lack of financial support and difficulties in accessing credit. The author of the article emphasizes the need for additional reforms and increased government support to overcome existing barriers and stimulate progress in the tourism sector. He also emphasizes the importance of strengthening interaction and cooperation between state structures and private business. The article will be of interest to representatives of the tourism industry, government officials, investors, and researchers studying the impact of political economy on tourism.
