Problems of information transparency of police activity (on the example of the transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Southern federal district)

The article deals with the problems of information transparency of the police. In accordance with the current trends of informatization and digitalization of public administration, information transparency is one of the most important conditions for the functioning of public authorities. The author substantiates the importance of using the Internet to increase the level of information transparency of the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, defines the regulatory legal framework for posting information about the activities of these bodies on Internet sites. Based on the use of a comparative method, the author conducted a study of the information transparency of the activities of the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Southern Federal District based on the materials of the Internet. It is proposed to introduce a special indicator “information openness index” to assess the information transparency of the activities of the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on the basis of data from their official websites. The method of calculating this indicator, as well as evaluating the results obtained, is disclosed. The final part of the article contains suggestions for improving the information transparency of the police.
