Problems of the history of Russian America in the western historiography

The paper describes evolution of views of the Western historians on the main problems of the history of Russian America: explanation of reasons of the Russian penetration into Alaska; evaluation of the region's economic development; problems of relations between the newly arrived and indigenous populations; as well as explanation of the eventual Russia's withdrawal from the North American possessions.
